What’s an “L-Sit”? Bear Crawl? Barbell Step-ups? One of our new members commented that the minute they thought they knew what was going on we put something new in the mix. But isn’t that the way it always is? Life throws you curve-balls. How many times have you had the rug pulled out from under you? Everything is going great, and then bam – everything changes. So what’s the lesson?
Be prepared to be unprepared. How do you react to change? Isn’t that one of CrossFit’s key fundamental lessons? The variety. Be ready for anything and everything. Learn new things. Don’t get too comfortable. I love this quote: “Be comfortable being uncomfortable. It may get tough, but it's a small price to pay for living a dream.” Peter McWilliams.
Many of you have said that you get that nervous feeling when you are driving in to the gym. Wondering what it’s going to be today. How uncomfortable will it get? But we keep showing up. Because we have grown to love ‘uncomfortable’. In a society where ‘easy’ is encouraged, walking in to a CrossFit gym is anything but that. And we like it. And it prepares us for those days in our lives that aren’t so easy. When nothing seems to be going our way. Or when we feel like we are spinning our wheels and accomplishing nothing.
Rise above it, shake it off, get after it. Uncomfortable can be kind of cool.
